MoTeC SDL Data/LoggerThe MoTeC SDL Dash / Logger is a combined LCD Dash and High Performance Data Logger. Various options allow the SDL to be configured as a simple stand-alone Display or to be upgraded to a sport level Data Logging and Display system that can be fully integrated with a MoTeC Engine Management System (ECU). Integration with the ECU avoids duplication of sensors. The various options may be enabled at any time by entering a password. Customized high contrast LCD displayThe digital display on the SDL Dash combines all of the gauges on your instrument panel and your data acquisition system into a single compact lightweight information center. The dash is a custom made reflective LCD. The range of the 70 segment Tacho/Bar Graph is programmable. A 13 digit alpha numeric portion at the bottom may be used to show any channel or warning messages. A large gear position area is also incorporated. Choose Backlit or Non BacklitFor racers who do not require the backlight feature for nighttime viewing, a non backlit SDL is available. The backlit versions of the SDL feature a built in backlight module for simple installation. The intensity of the backlight can be controlled using either an input trim switch or through the easy to use Sport Dash Manager software. Customizable AlarmsA warning Alarm message and/or warning light may be configured if any ECU or Dash channel exceeds programmable limits. This may be used for Low Oil Pressure, High Engine Temperature, Low Battery etc. and can be customized to turn on at different levels. For example 15 psi may be ample pressure up to 2000 rpm but at 9000 rpm you want a minimum of 40 psi. The warning alarms can be tailored to match your requirements at individual rpm points. Lap times may be displayed when connected to a MoTeC Lap Beacon, or a driver activated switch. Minimum corner and maximum straight speeds may be displayed giving the driver immediate performance feedback. Fuel Used or Fuel Remaining may also be displayed. 8 MB of logging memoryWith the logging option, a full 8 M Bytes of permanent memory is available for data logging. The logged data may be unloaded at very high speeds thanks to the SDL's USB Data download. In fact the 8Mb can be downloaded to your laptop in less than 20 seconds. The SDL has two communication modes, a bi-directional High Speed CAN or USB interface and USB for data download. Wide range of digital and analog inputsThe SDL has 12 analog measurement inputs for display or logging or Temperatures, Pressures, Position, Movement, Force etc. A built in 2 axis accelerometer provides g-force information about both the lateral and vertical axes. This data is useful for proper track mapping when used with a beacon receiver and wheelspeed input. The SDL can be upgraded to include 1 optional high accuracy Wide Band Lambda (Air/Fuel Ratio) input. and comes with 2 Digital Inputs, 2 speed inputs for Wheel Speed measurement, 2 Switched Inputs and 4 Pulsed or Switched Outputs which may be programmed for Gear Change Lights, Warning Light, Thermatic Fan Control etc. PowerThe SDL uses a high speed 32 Bit microprocessor and incorporates a 37 Pin Autosport connector. The control software is Field Updateable. The SDL is built to internationally recognized quality and manufacturing standards. The SDL is not simply a dumb display with all of the logging/control functions carried out in a separate module adding additional weight and complexity. All of these functions are contained within the extremely compact, lightweight and durable SDL package which weighs less than 1 pound.
Analysis of the DataThe Analysis software contains predefined configurations for easy data analysis. More experienced users will also find a wide range of tools and analysis functions to assist interpretation of the large amounts of data that can be logged. Screen display formats may be varied to suit all preferences, including user definable graphs, histograms, mixture maps and statistical summaries. By utilizing these different display methods, users can view data in many formats to obtain accurate, meaningful performance analysis. Track Maps are available so you can see where on the course you are able to gain an advantage. Pro Logging OptionThe Pro-Logging option includes multiple graph overlays, virtual dash, mathematical functions, XY graphs (scatter plots), Enhanced Track Maps that show minimum and maximum speeds, gear change points, throttle position and braking points and many other advanced features.
The software is designed to work on both laptop and desktop computers, thus allowing data to be viewed trackside and taken back to the workshop for further analysis. All printers are supported to provide high resolution graphics as a permanent record. The software runs on Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 2000, ME, XP and Windows NT.
AccessoriesA new range of sensors are now available for use with the SDL Data/Logger, to provide extremely high levels of data acquisition. Infrared Brake Disk Temperature Sensors, Suspension Sensors, Laser Road Speed Sensors, Resistive and Thermocouple Temperature Sensors, Hydraulic Pressure Sensors, Hall and Magnetic Speed Sensors, Lambda (mixture) Sensors and many others are available. The new MoTeC Lap Beacon Transmitter and Receiver have been designed in conjunction with the SDL Data/Logger. This features high channel count (990), improved optics, low power consumption, multi beacon capability and excellent performance with the Sun close to the horizon. As with all MoTeC products, customer backup and support is readily available from any of MoTeC's distributors or trained technicians.
